According to tradition, the painting - of high artistic value - is associated with Jan Reisner (1655-1713), painter of Polish kings John III Sobieski and August II Sas, or an artist from his circle. The fate of the painting until the end of the 18th century is unknown, then it found its way to the collection of Franciszek Ryx (1750-1839) of the Ring coat of arms, in his manor in Pilaszkow, where it remained until the 20th century despite the successive changing owners of the manor. The last of the estate's owners, acquired in 1892, was engineer Mieczyslaw Marszewski, builder of the Poniatowski Bridge in Warsaw.
