František Úprka (1868-1929), “Detvanská Tanečnice” | Slovak Folk Dance Figurine, 1920s

add Uw notitie
Kavelbeschrijving

This remarkable 1920s figurine, titled “Detvanská Tanečnice”, is by the celebrated Moravian sculptor František Úprka (1868–1929), brother of the painter Joža Úprka. Úprka, known for his work in the style of ethnographic realism, masterfully captured figures from rural life and folk traditions of Moravian-Slovakia.

The dynamic posture and detailed rendering of costume convey both motion and cultural authenticity. A member of SVU Mánes and the Association of Moravian Visual Artists, Úprka’s work bridges sculptural and folkloric storytelling, paralleling the narrative depth of his brother’s paintings.

This 55 cm figurine embodies the energy and charm of Slovak folk dance, making it a highly desirable piece for collectors of Central European art and ethnographic sculpture. Minor wear and damage on the nose and elbow are visible but do not diminish the expressive beauty of the work.

A rare collectible — a lively testament to early 20th-century Moravian folk-inspired sculpture.

PL:

Ta wyjątkowa figurkę z lat 20., zatytułowana „Detvanska Tancerka”, została wykonana przez cenionego morawskiego rzeźbiarza Františka Úprkę (1868–1929), brata malarza Joži Úprki. Úprka, znany ze stylu realizmu etnograficznego, mistrzowsko uchwycił postacie z życia wsi i folkloru Morawskiego Slovácka.

Dynamiczna postura i szczegółowe odwzorowanie stroju oddają zarówno ruch, jak i autentyczność kulturową. Członek SVU Mánes i Stowarzyszenia Artystów Morawskich, prace Úprki tworzą rzeźbiarską paralelę do malarskiej narracji jego brata.

Figurka o wysokości 55 cm emanuje energią i urokiem słowackiego tańca ludowego, czyniąc ją wyjątkowym obiektem dla kolekcjonerów sztuki Europy Środkowej i rzeźby etnograficznej. Drobne uszkodzenia na nosie i łokciu są widoczne, lecz nie umniejszają ekspresji i piękna dzieła.

Rzadki i cenny przedmiot kolekcjonerski — żywy przykład morawskiej rzeźby inspirowanej folklorem początku XX wieku.
